Doane Grant Thornton Foundation pledges $1 million to A Dollar A Day Foundation

Doane Grant Thornton Foundation, the charitable foundation of accounting firm Doane Grant Thornton, has pledged $1 million over two years to A Dollar A Day Foundation, a Canadian mental health charity.
Founded in 2016 and based in Newfoundland and Labrador, A Dollar A Day Foundation supports frontline mental health and addictions services in every province and territory. Since its founding, the national charity has supported over 130 organizations across the country as part of its mission to help increase accessibility to frontline mental health and addictions programs.
One in two Canadians will have a mental illness by the time they reach 40 years of age, and only one in five Canadian children who need mental health services are currently receiving them.
Doane Grant Thornton Foundation’s gift will enable A Dollar A Day to fund additional organizations across Canada.
The accounting firm’s charitable foundation in 2024 donated $366,000 to A Dollar A Day, enabling the charity to expand operations. After seeing the positive impact of the initial gift, the foundation decided to increase its support.
“The care A Dollar A Day puts into their work is inspiring,” said Dennis Leung, board chair of Doane Grant Thornton Foundation. “They really get to know their grantees, understand their needs, and ultimately direct funding to where it’s most needed. Our gift reflects the Foundation’s commitment to creating meaningful impact in the communities where we live and work.”
Brendan Paddick, co-founder and chair of A Dollar A Day, added, “Doane Grant Thornton Foundation’s support is about more than just dollars. Their long-term commitment gives us the stability to plan, grow, and deliver real impact. Thanks to their backing, we doubled the organizations we supported in 2024 and strengthened our operations, all while keeping our promise that every dollar from individual donors goes directly to frontline programs.”
