KPMG Canada launches Agentic AI Engine

KPMG Canada last week announced the launch of its Agentic AI Engine, which will help clients deploy agentic artificial intelligence solutions.

Agentic AI refers to artificial intelligence systems that can act autonomously and perform tasks with little to no human intervention.

“Agentic AI has the potential to revolutionize the way Canadian businesses operate. This is the most powerful form of AI in human history to date, and we believe it can help Canadian organizations boost efficiency by up to 30 per cent over the next three years by empowering higher output from teams and individuals working alongside digital agents,” said Stephanie Terrill, managing partner of digital and transformation, KPMG Canada.

The Big Four accounting firm says agentic AI can be a powerful tool to drive efficiency gains as Canada battles an ongoing productivity crisis as well as a trade war with the United States.

The launch of Agentic AI Engine is part of KPMG’s wider investment into internal and client-focused AI initiatives.

The Engine will develop solutions for Canadian firms, engage in research and development, and deploy digital agents across KPMG platforms and services.

The Engine will also collaborate with industry leaders and research institutes, share knowledge and insights, and help accelerate AI adoption through workshops and demonstrations.

The Engine has already helped develop AI agents for various Canadian organizations, including an agent to streamline claims processing and loan underwriting; an agent to triage customer service inquiries and complete customer returns; and an agent to help private equity firms analyze material ESG risks during the due diligence process.

KPMG has also already embedded AI agents into its various internal tools, including KPMG Clara, the firm’s smart audit platform and central portal for exchange of audit-related documents and information.

“Digital agents embedded into Clara will deliver deeper audit insights and enable audit professionals to more effectively respond to risks. Clara’s digital agents will also help standardize workflows, accelerate decision-making and harmonize processes to produce more consistent outcomes, which in turn, improves audit quality and enhances public trust,” said Sebastian Distefano, managing partner, audit and assurance, KPMG Canada.
