Baker Tilly expands into Northern Canada

Baker Tilly Canada, a nationwide co-operative network of independent accounting and consulting firm, has expanded its presence into Northern Canada with the addition of Lester Landau, an Iqaluit, Nunavut-based accounting firm.

Lester Landau, which has been in business for more than 30 years in Nunavaut, will rebrand to Baker Tilly Arctic. The firm, which is led by managing partner Shawn Lester, provides assurance, accounting, tax, and advisory services to Inuit organizations, municipalities, not-for-profits, and territorial government bodies. Lester is supported by a team 12 full-time professionals as well as several seasonal staff members.

Lester has 35 years of public accounting experience, beginning his career at Vodden, Bender & Seebach LLP in Southwestern Ontario before moving on to Grant Thornton’s Fredericton, NB office. He relocated to Iqaluit and joined Mackay Landau in 2000, becoming managing partner of the firm in 2005 (and re-naming the firm Lester Landau).
