KPMG Canada promotes Johanna Gerrie to M&A tax leader
KPMG Canada has promoted Johanna Gerrie to national mergers & acquisitions (M&A) tax leader.
Gerrie is based in Toronto and has been at KPMG since 2012. She has over 20 years of experience working with private equity, venture capital and hedge funds, pension funds, and other clients to execute acquisitions, reorganizations, and divestitures in Canada and internationally.
The M&A tax partner has extensive experience in tax due diligence and designing investment funds, compensation plans, and tax-efficient strategies, and has advised on over 500 transactions across the globe.
Prior to her tenure at KPMG, Gerrie spent a decade at Deloitte, where she was latterly a senior manager in the M&A tax practice.
She has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Macquarie University in Australia.
“I know Johanna and our talented team across Canada will continue to bring significant value to our clients through the innovative and comprehensive solutions that have made KPMG the number one most active M&A advisor in Canada over the past five years,” said Lucy Iacovelli, KPMG’s Canadian managing partner, tax and legal.
Gerrie added, “I look forward to continuing to work with our valued clients across Canada as I take on my new role as National Leader of Mergers & Acquisitions Tax. I’m immensely proud to have been a part of this team for over ten years - witnessing firsthand the deep expertise and relentless focus on quality and innovation from our teams across Canada and KPMG’s global network.”
Gerrie succeeds Jocelyn Blanchet, who joined Alvarez & Marsal earlier this month.
