HKA promotes two to partner in Canada
As part of its biannual promotion cycle, HKA promoted eight team members to partner across its global operations, including two in its Montreal office: Nader Akkaoui and Charles Bucci.
“I’d like to congratulate all our promoted colleagues and welcome our newest Partners to the HKA Global Partnership. We understand that our people are the heart of our business, and our newly promoted colleagues have excelled not only in their financial and value-adding performance, but also in their behaviours by both living and promoting our collaborative culture and values,” said Renny Borhan, partner and CEO of HKA.
Akkaoui has 18 years of experience in construction, project management, and claims and dispute resolution. He specializes in construction claims and expert reports, expert testimony on delay and damages, and construction costs and schedule assessments. He also provides construction litigation support, cost audits, and project management reporting and risk management.
Before joining HKA in 2021, Akkaoui spent six years at Deloitte Canada, where he was director in the capital projects practice. Earlier in his career he spent eight years at engineering and construction firm Bechtel Corporation, where he held various roles across natural gas, mining, and infrastructure projects globally.
Akkaoui has an MBA from McGill University and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Queen’s University, as well as professional engineer and project management professional certifications.
Bucci is a professional engineer and delay and quantum expert with 16 years of construction industry experience. He has prepared independent assessments and expert reports for disputes of up to $150 million and for projects with values over $1 billion, ranging from major infrastructure and power projects to a wide variety of building uses.
Bucci also joined HKA in 2021 from Deloitte’s capital projects practice, where he spent six years and was latterly a director. Before that, he spent five years at Pomerleau, where he was a project manager.
Headquartered in London, HKA provides services in risk mitigation, dispute resolution, expert witness, and litigation support primarily to clients in the construction sector. The firm has more than 1,000 professionals across 45+ offices in 17 countries.
