Grant Thornton acquires Waters Meredith & Partners

Grant Thornton Canada has acquired Waters Meredith & Partners, a Niagara Falls, ON-based accounting and consulting firm.

Founded in 1965, Waters Meredith provides accounting, tax, and consulting services primarily to owner-managed entrepreneurial organizations in the Niagara region. The firm’s consulting offerings include business valuation, M&A, business succession and estate planning, financial planning, and software selection and implementation. Waters Meredith has over a dozen employees.

As part of the acquisition deal, the Waters Meredith team will join Grant Thornton’s St. Catharine’s office, with Patrick Tchang and Les Griffis joining as partners.

The transaction closed on March 1, 2024.

Grant Thornton is headquartered in Toronto and is one of the country’s largest mid-market accounting and consulting firms. The company has, together with Quebec affiliate Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton, approximately 4,700 employees.

Grant Thornton in late 2021 and early 2022 acquired six boutique accountancies in the Greater Toronto Area: Elements LLP Advisors & CPAs, Sloan Partners LLP, Steven Brates CPA, Hurren Sinclair MacIntyre, KD Wray Professional Corp, and S&W LLP.
