MNP buys eastern Quebec accountancy Lafond CPA

MNP, a national mid-market accounting and consulting firm, has acquired Lafond CPA Inc., an Amqui, QC-based boutique accountancy.

Located in the Matapédia region within Bas-Saint-Laurent, approximately 415 km northeast of Quebec City, the Amqui firm has four team members, including founder Julien Lafond. The firm provides accounting, tax, and advisory services to private enterprises throughout Bas-Saint-Laurent and Gaspésie.

MNP’s acquisition of Lafond will give the firm its first location in Matapédia. The Calgary-based firm entered the Quebec market in 2011 and now has 1,200 team members and 25 offices in the province, including eastern Quebec locations in Rimouski, Matane, and Gaspé.

The Lafonde CPA team will remain at its current office, with Julien Lafond joining MNP as a partner.

MNP last year acquired Sylvain Béland CPA, a boutique accountancy based in Shawinigan. The firm significantly expanded its Quebec regional footprint through a major Deloitte acquisition in 2021.
