BDO Canada adds Brent Warga and Robin Cyna as partners
BDO Canada has hired Brent Warga and Robin Cyna as partners in its Winnipeg and Toronto offices, respectively. Both partners joined the accounting and consulting firm in December.
Warga joins BDO’s business restructuring and turnaround services practice as a senior vice president. He brings more than 16 years of experience supporting challenged companies going through restructuring and performance enhancement initiatives.
Warga has extensive experience acting as a court officer in administering receiverships and bankruptcies, as well as acting as a financial advisor to distressed businesses outside formal insolvency proceedings.
He joins BDO from Deloitte, where he spent over two decades and latterly served as partner and head of the corporate restructuring practice for Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
He has a master’s degree in accounting and a bachelor of commerce from The University of Manitoba and is a designated CPA, CA, CIRP, LIT, and CFE.“As market conditions constantly change, businesses of any size can face unexpected challenges,” said Kevin Meyler, partner, financial advisory services. “With Brent joining our team, we will enhance the high-quality services we already provide to our clients who rely on us as their partners.”
Cyna joins BDO’s national tax office, bringing more than 20 years of experience as a chartered accountant specializing in tax and risk management.
She joins from KPMG, where she spent 13 years in the tax and assurance business lines. Cyna most recently served as managing director, global quality and risk management.
She also previously spent 10 years at Grant Thornton, where she was latterly a principal for risk management and strategic initiatives within the national tax team.
Cyna is a chartered professional accountant and certified financial planner.
