Martha Banner joins BDO’s Kelowna office as partner
Martha Banner has joined the Kelowna office of BDO as partner and head of cloud accounting services in Western Canada.
In her new role, Banner will help clients across industries modernize their accounting operations and technology. She brings a decade of experience supporting small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) with cloud accounting solutions to help them streamline accounting processes, optimize tax strategies, and improve financial performance.
“Martha is a forward-thinking leader and I am excited to welcome her to the firm,” said Matthew Sturges, partner, Central Canada and SMB leader, BDO Canada. “Her experience working with privately held companies, multinational organizations and public corporations alike will boost BDO's already outstanding ability to create customized, collaborative and consistent cloud accounting and bookkeeping services.”Banner joins BDO from Grant Thornton Canada, where she spent nearly six years and was latterly national leader for cloud accounting services. Before that, she was a manager at Buckley Dodds CPAs, a senior staff accountant at LNS Chartered Accountants, and a staff accountant at Collins Barrow (now Baker Tilly).
Banner has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Capilano University and is a chartered professional accountant.
“It’s official! I have joined BDO Canada to lead the cloud practice in Western Canada,” Banner said in a LinkedIn post. “I am thrilled to join Matt Sturges through this ongoing industry transformation and prepare our clients and the firm for the future.”
BDO Canada has more than 4,800 people across over 100 offices in Canada, with annual revenue of $871 million.
The mid-market accountancy earlier this year hired Kam Nat as a tax partner in its Langley office.
