Avison Young names Patrick Laurin managing director for Montreal office
Avison Young, an international commercial real estate services firm, has appointed Patrick Laurin as managing director for Montreal.
The Toronto-headquartered firm in a press release said the announced management change aims to “further accelerate business growth in the Quebec market.”
Jean Laurin, formerly managing director, will continue to serve as president for the Quebec region. He will focus on business development, client-focused activities, and strategic growth initiatives – including developing partnerships with key stakeholders and strategizing new service lines.
The Laurins joined Avison Young in 2021 as part of the firm’s acquisition of Devencore, a corporate real estate brokerage and advisory firm where Jean served as CEO from 2002. The deal significantly expanded Avison Young’s Montreal office – growing it from 30 to 100+ professionals.
At the time of the acquisition, Mark Rose, CEO of Avison Young, said leading the market in Montreal and Quebec had “always been a strategic priority.”
In his new role as managing director, Patrick Laurin will support the Montreal team in delivering exceptional client services. He will also continue to lead the occupier services group in Montreal.
Patrick has over 15 years of experience in real estate brokerage, advisory, and civil engineering. He has advised numerous public and private companies on their real estate strategies in Canada and internationally, negotiating more than 2 million square feet of transactions across the country.
He spent the last two years at Avison Young as a principal and senior vice president. Before that he held increasingly senior positions during 12 years at Devencore – joining the firm as a consultant in 2010, making partner in 2019, and becoming senior vice president in 2020.
Patrick began his career at SNC-Lavalin, where he was an engineer and project manager. He has an MBA from HEC Montreal and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Polytechnique Montreal.
“Patrick is a natural leader with a track record of working collaboratively to drive business across all service lines to produce positive outcomes,” said Mark Fieder, principal and president, Avison Young Canada. “I could not be happier for Patrick as he steps into this new stage in his career with Avison Young.”
Avison Young was founded in 1978 and provides investment sales, leasing, management, financing, and advisory services to clients in the office, retail, industrial, multi-family, and hospitality sectors. The principal-owned firm has 5,000+ employees across offices in North America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
