Ryan acquires tax credit specialist RTC Consulting
Ryan, a business tax consulting firm, has acquired RTC Consulting, a Montreal-based scientific research and experimental development (SR&ED) tax consultancy.
RTC was founded in 1989 and specializes in preparing claims for tax credit programs across more than 30 different fields in science and technology. The boutique firm’s offerings cover the major federal and provincial tax credit programs, including SR&ED, Private Partnership Pre-Competitive Research, Development of E-Business, and Production of Multimedia Titles.
RTC’s has services in SR&ED tax planning, analysis of available government programs, tax credit financing, identification of technology partners, and risk assessment.
Ryan’s acquisition of RTC will bolster its Canadian SR&ED practice.
“The strength and success of RTC is the perfect addition to our thriving SR&ED practice,” said Ryan chairman and CEO G. Brint Ryan. “Their track record over the last three decades of obtaining tax credits for companies of all sizes in a variety of industries will be an immediate asset to our clients with Canadian operations. We are thrilled to offer our clients expanded technical expertise and services as we continue our accelerated growth across Canada.”
As part of the transaction, RTC founder Peter Kustec will join Ryan as a principal in the SR&ED practice. Prior to founding his company, Kustec spent seven years at Revenue Canada, where he worked in the SME audit department and then in the SR&ED department.
“I felt Ryan was a strong fit because of its reputation in the industry as an innovator of technology and exemplary record of client service,” said Kustec. “The combination of RTC and Ryan’s existing SR&ED practice opens the door for many value-added opportunities for our clients. I look forward to continuing our tradition of offering our clients the highest quality services and unmatched results.”
Headquartered in Dallas, Ryan provides specialized services in tax recovery, consulting, advocacy, compliance, and technology. The firm has more than 3,600 professionals across offices in North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. Ryan has Canadian offices in Mississauga, Guelph, Montreal, Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver.
The consultancy last year acquired The Funding Portal Inc, a Toronto-based provider of software that matches companies with funding and grants opportunities.
