KPMG donates $600K to HEC Montreal
KPMG Canada has donated $600,000 to HEC Montreal’s “Measuring Beyond” environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiative.
Co-founded in 2022 with Oxford University’s Saïd Business School in 2022, the Measuring Beyond program provides a space where academics from the two universities can collaborate with the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) and companies like KPMG. Measuring Beyond includes a research and education centre that showcases the role of decarbonization in transforming Quebec businesses and encourages students to develop ESG skillsets.
The Big Four firm’s donation will enable HEC Montreal to deploy several initiatives focused on developing ESG measurements standards, including a scholarship program and an annual conference on ESG developments in the corporate sphere.
"The initiative aligns with KPMG's vision for the Québec economy," said Benoit Lacoste Bienvenue, Québec managing partner. "‘Measuring Beyond’ was developed…to show tomorrow's leaders the importance of incorporating ESG factors into the financial decision-making process in order to actively contribute to creating an economy that is in harmony with the environment."
HEC Montreal is home to one Canada’s leading MBA programs. The school also offers bachelor’s degrees in business administration, master’s and PhD programs in administration, and a joint executive MBA with McGill University. HEC Montreal has a student body of approximately 14,300.
