J.S. Held, a global consulting firm, has acquired Frostbyte Consulting, a Calgary-based firm focusing on environmental, health, and safety (EH&S).

Founded in 2001, Frostbyte’s 25+ employees work at the intersection of business and the environment. The consultancy provides an array of enterprise IT solutions and services in environment management, safety management, regulatory compliance, and risk management. Frostbyte’s technology partners include Cority, Damstra, Enablon, and Sphera, among others.

The firm works with clients in a wide range of industries, including construction, energy and utilities, oil and gas, mining and metals, and manufacturing.

“The Frostbyte team brings cutting-edge ESG and EH&S advisory and technology expertise to the firm and bolsters our sustainability solutions," said Paul Banks, EVP and EH&S practice lead at J.S. Held. "We are excited for what this addition brings to our clients as they negotiate an ever-changing ESG landscape and strive to meet their sustainability goals."

The transaction builds on J.S. Held’s 2020 acquisition of Examine Construction Consultants, a boutique Montreal firm focusing on construction-related matters, and its 2019 acquisition of Specialized Property Evaluation Control Services, a Langley, BC–based consulting firm specializing in property risk and loss quantification services.

J.S. Held currently has 18 offices across Canada.

“From the beginning, Frostbyte has provided sustainable business solutions to help our clients navigate complex EH&S and risk management challenges that are continually evolving," said Steven Andersen, founder and CEO of Frostbyte. "By joining forces with J.S. Held, we gain additional resources and experts from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines that complement the strengths of our team."

Headquartered in Jericho, NY, J.S. Held has more than 100 offices and a headcount of more than 1,500 employees worldwide. The firm provides specialized technical and forensic advisory services to a wide range of industries, with practice areas including forensic accounting, economics, corporate finance, investigations, construction claims and disputes, and environmental health and safety.

J.S. Held last month bought TBG Security, a Franklin, Massachusetts-based cybersecurity firm.
