Hickey, a Minneapolis-based real estate advisory firm, has acquired CAI Global, a Montreal-based site selection and location strategy consulting firm. The deal is expected to close by year-end.

Founded in 1984, CAI advises clients on investment project strategy, project financing management and negotiation, site selection and project implementation, economic development, and training. The boutique firm has facilitated investment projects valued at more than $8.5 billion.

The bulk of CAI’s clients are multinational organizations planning worldwide investment initiatives and economic development agencies looking for new approaches in their business development efforts.

The consultancy has 18 employees across offices in Montreal, Toronto, and New York, according to LinkedIn.

Hickey’s acquisition of CAI will expand its presence into Canada. The acquired company will form Hickey Canada and will be led by Marc Beauchamp, president and CEO of CAI. Beauchamp will also join Hickey’s global leadership team.
