Rock Lapalme joins Baker Tilly's national tax team
Rock Lapalme has joined the Baker Tilly Canada co-operative’s national tax team as an associate director.
A partner at Sudbury-based member firm Baker Tilly SNT, will join a national tax group that spans tax professionals across Baker Tilly Canada’s constituent member firms. Formed in 2019 and led by director John Oakey, the national tax group aims to meet demand for specialized tax services in the face of growth in entrepreneurship, technology, and regulatory complexity.
Lapalme will focus on providing professional development, tax publications, marketing resources, and professional practice tools to Baker Tilly’s tax professionals. He has experience assisting peers as a facilitator for CPA Canada’s in-depth tax course – training and mentoring future tax experts.
“As National Tax Services continues to grow, we’re excited to bring Rock aboard to heighten our capacity to help our network navigate evolving tax policies,” said Oakey. “His technical knowledge and teaching experience will be assets as we pursue more initiatives for member firms, empowering them to provide customized tax services of the highest quality.”
Lapalme has more than 15 years of experience in public accounting and tax consulting. He has been at Baker Tilly SNT since 2015 and was named a partner in the income tax practice in 2020. Lapalme has deep expertise advising high-net-worth individuals, professionals, and owner-managed businesses and working closely with client legal and investment advisors to meet tax, succession, and estate planning needs.
He previously spent nearly six years at Sudbury accountancy FCR, where he was a senior tax manager, as well as more than three years in EY’s Toronto office, where he was a senior accountant.
Lapalme has a bachelor of commerce degree from Laurentian University and is a chartered professional accountant.
