FTI Consulting hires Anita Patel as senior managing director

FTI Consulting has welcomed Anita Patel as a senior managing director in its risk and investigations practice within the forensic and litigation consulting segment. She is based in Toronto.

In her new role at FTI, Patel will focus on growing the firm’s forensic investigations, litigation consulting, disputes, and compliance services in Toronto and across Canada.

She brings more than 18 years of experience providing consulting and expert services in forensic accounting, damages quantification, and litigation support. Patel has case experience across financial statement fraud, securities fraud, tax evasion, money laundering, IP infringement, and large government investigations. She has served as an expert witness and has prepared expert reports for submission to all levels of Canadian courts.

Patel spent the last seven years at CPA Ontario, where she was an investigator in professional misconduct investigations, and latterly served as director of regulatory compliance within the registrar’s office.

Before that, she spent three years as a senior associate in forensic accounting and litigation support at Cohen Hamilton Steger & Co. and over a year as a manager in EY’s fraud investigations and dispute services practice.

Patel also previously held forensic accountant roles at Navigant (now Guidehouse) and Kroll. She began her career as an accountant at EY.

Patel has a bachelor of commerce degree from the University of Ottawa and holds professional certifications across public accounting, financial forensics, fraud examination, and anti-money laundering.

FTI earlier this year added Denis Reynolds as a Toronto-based senior managing director in its financial services practice within the forensic and litigation consulting segment.
