Maria Severino named US tax industry leader
Maria Severino, national tax leader at RSM Canada, has been appointed national tax industry leader at RSM US.
In her new role, the Toronto-based partner will lead RSM US’ client experience efforts in the tax industry, including a collaborative effort delivering technical knowledge, industry expertise, and technology solutions for the middle market.
Severino succeeds Matt Talcoff, who became RSM US’ Washington national tax leader earlier this year.
She will continue to serve as national tax leader at RSM Canada, a role she has held since the Canadian member firm of RSM launched in 2017.
Severino has nearly three decades of public practice experience and has advised clients across industries on mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, and international tax planning, as well as estate, wealth preservation, and succession planning.
She previously spent seven years at RSM Canada predecessor firm Collins Barrow Toronto, where she was a partner in the tax advisory practice. Before that, Severino was a tax partner at Toronto accountancy Schwartz Levitsky Feldman.
She began her career at KPMG Canada, where she spent a decade and was latterly a senior manager in the tax practice.
Severino has a bachelor of commerce degree from the University of Toronto and is a certified public accountant.
“Maria is an inspiring and strong leader, and I am confident in her ability to accelerate growth across all industries at RSM in her new role as National Tax Industry Leader,” said E.J. Nedder, national tax leader at RSM US. “Her unique brand of leadership will help elevate the experience of our people as first choice advisors so they can continue to bring the full power of our firm to the middle market.”
Severino added, “RSM is known for its deep understanding of the industries we serve. I’m excited for this opportunity to build on the firm’s success of delivering exceptional industry-focused client experiences.”
