Aecom adds Rod Conde in Calgary, wins Vernon water treatment contract

Aecom, a global design and engineering consultancy, has hired Rod Conde as operations manager for its buildings and places business in Calgary. The firm also announced it won a contract to provide engineering services for a new filtration facility at the Mission Hill Water Treatment Plant in Vernon, BC.

Conde is an architect who brings over 22 years of experience across a range of design scopes, delivery models, building scales, and complexities. He has worked on projects for clients across retail, light industrial, residential, and institutional.

As our Calgary operations lead, I look forward to him providing strong strategic direction and leadership to drive growth in the Alberta market, to the benefit of our clients, partners, and employees,” said Walter Gaudet, senior vice president and lead of Aecom’s Canadian buildings and places business.

Conde joins Aecom from Dialog, a Calgary-based design firm, where he spent over seven years and was latterly a senior project manager. In the role, he led a team that delivered retail projects for major oil and gas firms, including a large electric vehicle charger upgrade program. Before that, he spent two years as a project manager at Jacobs.Rod Conde, Operations Manager, AecomEarlier in his career, Conde ran his own architecture firm in El Salvador, delivering commercial and retail facility projects across Latin America.

He has a master’s degree in architecture from Kingston University London and a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Dr. José Matías Delgado University in El Salvador.

As part of the water treatment facility contract win from the Regional District North Okanagan, Aecom will deliver design and recommended site upgrades for the addition of filtration at the Mission Hill plant, which serves Vernon, BC.

Kalamalka Lake, the water source treated by Mission Hill, faces quality issues from turbidity and algae that are expected to increase due to climate change. The project includes a new water filtration system, a new building for labs and control rooms, and upgrades to waste stream handling.
