Ryan acquires grant discovery platform Fundingportal
Ryan, a global business tax consultancy, has acquired The Funding Portal Inc (Fundingportal), a Toronto-based provider of software that matches clients with funding and grants opportunities.
Founded in 2011, Fundingportal is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) provider that helps companies, municipalities, nonprofits, and other organizations secure grants, government incentives, and other funding. The firm’s online tools have served more than a million applicant organizations, with subscribers spanning advisory firms, large corporations, and economic development agencies.
The company has a team of seven professionals and a six-person advisory council.
Ryan’s acquisition of Fundingportal will expand its government funding and grant offering in Canada and grow its client portfolio.

The deal builds on Ryan’s October 2021 acquisition of Mentor Works, a Guelph-based consultancy specializing in small business government grants, loans, and tax credit application support. The transaction added a team of 27 professionals.
Ryan also last year acquired Burgess Cawley Sullivan, a Vancouver-based consulting firm with 33 professionals specializing in real estate and property tax consulting.
