Management consultancy Optimus SBR has acquired N-Gen People Performance, a Toronto-based boutique training consulting firm focusing on solutions for managing generational differences in the workplace.

Founded in 2003, N-Gen delivers training programs to help organizations improve performance with a multigenerational workforce that includes millennial and Gen Z employees. N-Gen’s training workshops for “next-generation” employees include business etiquette and communication skills.

The firm offers a range of millennial/Gen Z-tailored training programs across sales and customer services, leadership, team building, and human resources. N-Gen has worked with banks, energy firms, universities, and government agencies.

N-Gen has a team of approximately four people led by co-founder and president Giselle Kovary.

“I'm excited to announce the purchase of n-gen as a great addition to our Learning & Enablement practice." said Kevin Gauci, founder and CEO of Optimus SBR. "We can now offer our clients an enriched suite of training services with n-gen's uniquely focused workshops that help companies increase employee engagement, drive team performance, and retain and grow a multigenerational workforce."

The deal is Optimus SBR’s eighth acquisition in the last decade. The Toronto-based firm was created in 2010 through the combination of Optimus Consulting Group, Kemerer Group, and SBR Global. From an initial team of 30 professionals providing management consulting to financial services, energy, and healthcare, Optimus SBR has increased its headcount nearly tenfold while expanding service lines and industry practices.

M&A has been a central part of the company’s expansion. Between 2012 and 2016, Optimus SBR grew its health care practice through the acquisition of RWS and expanded its public sector practice via the purchases of KeyWillow Consulting, PMC, and SEG Management Consultants.

In 2017 the firm expanded into the learning and enablement space with the acquisition of BottomLine Group, the largest transaction in its history.

Last year, the firm bolstered its data and analytics practice with the purchase of Unilytics.

Optimus SBR today provides services in strategy, process management, project management, technology, data and analytics, change management, human capital, and learning and enablement. The firm works with clients in financial services, healthcare, energy, transportation, travel and events, non-profit, and government.

"We're very excited to be a part of a company like Optimus SBR that shares our entrepreneurial spirit and bold attitude – we make a great team! We welcome the opportunity to deliver n-gen's training programs to a much broader audience and continue to help organizations improve their performance and productivity," Kovary said.
