CIMA+ names Denis Thivierge as president and CEO
CIMA+, a Laval, QC-headquartered design and engineering consulting firm, has appointed Denis Thivierge as president and chief executive officer, effective August 1, 2022.
Thivierge succeeds François Plourde, who has helmed the company for the last eight years. Plourde will retire at the end of 2022 after a 33-year tenure at CIMA+.
Réal Plourde, board chair at CIMA+, said, "We would like to thank François for his many years of dedication to our firm. Under his leadership, we have experienced profound transformations in our business model and benefited from a meteoric growth in profitability.”
Thivierge brings more than 25 years of experience in consulting engineering to the role. He has been at CIMA+ since 2007, joining the firm as VP of the buildings sector for Montreal region and being named a partner in 2008. Between 2007 and 2016, he led the Montreal buildings sector to a average annual growth rate of 15%.
In 2016 Thivierge was named director of the Montreal office and a member of the executive committee. Since 2019, he has served as the firm’s chief operating officer and interim chief financial officer.
He has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Université Laval.
"Under François' leadership, CIMA+ has made significant progress through organic growth and successful targeted acquisitions,” Thivierge said. “We are now one of the largest consulting engineering firms in Canada, with over 30 offices across the country and a diverse team of over 2,800 employees, half of whom are shareholders. I intend to continue to grow the company by pursuing an approach similar to that of François.”
Founded in 1990, CIMA+ delivers engineering, environmental and geotechnical, geomatics and surveying, and project management services in the areas of buildings, infrastructure, and transportation. The firm also offers complementary specialized services in urban planning and landscape architecture, software development, sustainability, commissioning, and intelligent and mobility systems, among others.
CIMA+ recently acquired Ediom, a boutique Mississauga, ON-based electrical engineering firm.
