BDO signs sponsorship deal with Golf Canada
BDO Canada, a mid-market accounting and consulting firm, has announced a multi-year partnership with Golf Canada.
The partnership makes BDO Canada the “Official Business and Professional Services Partner” of Golf Canada and its two signature events – The RBC Canadian Open and the CP Women’s Open.
Part of the FedExCup, the RBC Canadian Open will have PGA Tour participants compete at St. George’s Golf & Country Club in Toronto from June 6-12, 2022. LGPA Tour participants will compete for the CP Women’s Open at Ottawa Hunt and Country Club from August 22-28, 2022.
BDO will also serve as presenting sponsor for all nine Canadian Amateur Golf Championships conducted by Golf Canada.
The firm will further partner with the sports federation to develop and enhance technologies that support the Canadian golfer experience.
“We are excited to partner with Golf Canada and become the presenting sponsor for Canadian Amateur Golf Championships,” said Pat Kramer, CEO of BDO Canada. “This is the next step in our commitment to connecting and engaging with Canadians, through sport. Working alongside Golf Canada, we look forward to supporting Canadian athletes at both the amateur and professional levels.”
Golf Canada is the national sports federation and governing body for golf in the country, representing more than 300,000 golfers and 1,435 member clubs.
BDO has had a professional relationship with the organization since 2019, which formed a springboard for the recently inked sponsorship.
“Golf Canada has had an exceptional relationship with BDO as our auditor and professional services firm since 2019 and the work and growth that we have experienced together has brought us to this enhanced next level,” said Laurence Applebaum, CEO of Golf Canada. “We are extremely excited about the opportunities for BDO in golf and in working with our team and connected stakeholders. BDO is a world class organization, and we are thrilled to be working with them extensively to expand our use of their services across all of their areas of expertise.”
BDO USA earlier this year announced six-time PGA Tour winner Billy Horschel as their first US golf brand ambassador.
Rival mid-market accountancy MNP takes a different marketing strategy, funneling sponsorship dollars into sports with more popular appeal, such as baseball, hockey, and football. The Calgary-based firm has multi-year partnership agreements with the Toronto Blue Jays, Winnipeg Jets, Montreal Alouettes, and Saskatchewan Roughriders.
