Avison Young establishes valuation practice in Vancouver
Commercial real estate services firm Avison Young (AY) has launched a valuation and advisory team in Vancouver with the hiring of five professionals.
The five-person team joins AY from Garnett Wilson Realty Advisors, a Vancouver-based boutique real estate appraisal and consulting firm.
Jessica Toppazzini joins AY as senior vice president and BC practice leader of valuation and advisory services, where she will oversee the growth of the practice across the province. She brings a decade of experience in valuation services, with a focus on expropriation, development land, purpose-built rental housing, and social housing.
Toppazzini spent the last seven years at Garnett Wilson, where she was latterly a partner. Before that, she spent three years as a consultant at Carmichael Wilson Property Consultants.
Steven Caldecott joins AY as a senior vice president, bringing more than 12 years of valuation experience with a specialization in industrial properties. He previously spent 10 years at Garnett Wilson, where he was latterly a partner. Before that, he spent two years as an analyst at Carmichael Wilson.Victoria Steele joins AY as a senior valuation consultant. Steele previously spent four years at Garnett Wilson, where she was a senior associate and completed valuation engagements across all types of commercial real estate in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.
Also joining AY are Antonio Balogh, junior appraiser, and Matt Chin, data analyst.
“We continue to build upon our tremendous opportunity for growth, adding five remarkably talented individuals that will start up our team in Vancouver, providing clients with a diverse skill set across all asset types,” said Matthew McWatters, who leads the valuation and advisory services practice in Canada. “We have an appetite for recruiting and developing new talent across Canada – and I look forward to Jessica helping to lead the charge in British Columbia.”
The expansion is part of a “commitment to grow its consultative real estate solution offerings across North America,” according to a press release from AY.
The Toronto-headquartered firm recently hired Arlene Dedier as leader of its project management services practice in Canada. AY also last month acquired Dowling Houy, a Boston-based boutique project management firm focusing on life sciences sector real estate.
