FTI Consulting promotes two to senior managing director in Toronto
FTI Consulting has promoted two team members in Toronto – Ali Al-Ahmad and Jim Robinson – to senior managing director, effective January 1, 2021. The Canadian promotions are part of a wider global class of 59 new senior managing directors at the Washington, DC-headquartered management consultancy.
Ali Al-Ahmad has more than a decade of experience in construction claims consulting and project management. He specializes in providing expert opinion on delay and damages in construction litigation and arbitration proceedings, as well as support in project scheduling and contract administration for ongoing projects.
Al-Ahmad joined FTI’s Toronto office in 2017, most recently serving as a managing director in the forensic and litigation consulting segment and construction solutions practice. Prior to FTI, Al-Ahmad spent more than seven years at Revay and Associates, Canada’s largest construction claims consultancy, where he was latterly a manager.
Al-Ahmad holds an MBA from McGill University and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Concordia University, and has professional engineer and project management professional certifications.
Jim Robinson focuses on advising management and stakeholders of troubled companies undergoing restructuring in Canada and the US. He has experience in cross-border restructuring, stakeholder negotiation, interim management, and recapitalization strategy.
Robinson has worked with a diverse range of public and private company clients, including Sears Canada, Payless ShoeSource Canada, and US Steel Canada.
He most recently served as a managing director in FTI’s corporate finance and restructuring segment. Prior to joining FTI in 2017, Robinson was a senior manager in the restructuring practice of Deloitte Canada.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from The University of Western Ontario and chartered professional accountant and chartered insolvency and restructuring professional certifications.
