RSM Canada promotes six to partner
RSM Canada, a mid-market accounting and consulting firm, has promoted six team members to partner.
Vanessa Chan (tax, Toronto) has more than ten years of experience in domestic and international tax planning for companies in a range of industries. Her work focuses on corporate tax compliance services, tax accounting, and tax minimization structures for Canadian subsidiaries of multinational corporations.
Prior to joining RSM Canada in 2018, Chan was a senior manager at BDO Canada and a senior consultant at KPMG Canada. She holds a master’s degree in accounting and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Waterloo. Chan also holds CA and CPA designations.
Michael Joseph (tax, Toronto) has more than 15 years of public accounting experience. He specializes in cross-border Canadian tax advisory services to large and small clients in a range of industries. Joseph has expertise across tax due diligence, tax structuring assistance, and compliance.
Prior to joining RSM Canada in 2019 as a senior manager in the M&A tax practice, Joseph spent more than 13 years at PwC, where he was a senior manager in the tax practice. He holds a bachelor of laws from the University of Nottingham, UK and a bachelor’s degree in finance and international business from McGill University.
David Mamane (consulting, Toronto) provides services in property and casualty (P&C) actuarial, insurance management, and enterprise risk management advisory to insurance firms and other financial services clients. He has more than 10 years of experience in P&C insurance pricing, data analytics, risk modeling, and enterprise risk management.
Prior to joining RSM Canada in 2018 as a director in the actuarial consulting practice, Mamane was a senior manager in corporate actuarial and risk management at TD Insurance and a senior actuarial analyst at Aon Risk Solutions. He holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and mathematics from McGill University and a bachelor’s degree in actuarial mathematics from Concordia University.
Austen Ramsay (tax, Calgary) has more than ten years of public accounting experience. He joined RSM Canada’s international tax practice as a senior manager in 2019.
Prior to RSM, Ramsay spent seven years at MNP, where he was latterly a senior manager in international tax services. He has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from the University of Alberta and is a CPA and CA.
Shaweta Roopra (audit, Toronto) has more than 10 years of experience in audit and finance, with expertise advising on finance, risk, and internal controls compliance across a range of sectors.
Roopra has been at RSM Canada since its inception in December 2017. Prior to that, she was a senior manager in the professional standards practice of predecessor firm Collins Barrow Toronto.
Roopra was also previously a manager at Deloitte Canada where she focused on audit engagements. She holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, actuarial science, and chartered accountancy from the University of Waterloo and is a CPA and CA.
Jamie Zuk (audit, Toronto) has more than a decade of public accounting experience. She has been at RSM since its launch, and prior to that spent four years at Collins Barrow Toronto, where she was a manager.
Before Collins Barrow, Zuk was a senior accountant at Deloitte Canada. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from The University of Western Ontario.

RSM US, meanwhile, promoted 83 people to partner/principal level for its 2022 class.
