Kroll buys Toronto-based Security Compass Advisory
Kroll, a global corporate investigations and risk consulting firm, has acquired Security Compass Advisory, a Toronto-based cybersecurity consultancy.
Founded in 2004, Security Compass supports its clients with offerings focused on security strategy testing and simulation – including red teaming and penetration testing. The firm’s approximately 50 professionals work with Fortune 500 clients in a range of industries globally.
Kroll’s acquisition of Security Compass will expand the New York-headquartered firm’s cyber risk practice, which has extensive capabilities in digital risk protection, managed detection, incident response, investigations, regulatory compliance, and litigation support. The transaction will grow Kroll’s cyber risk practice to more than 500 people globally.
“Security Compass Advisory is the ideal strategic partner to help us realize the growth we’ve planned for our assessment and testing services both geographically, through its strength in North America, and from a technology perspective, with their experts helping enhance our growing portfolio of managed security solutions,” said Jason Smolanoff, president of Kroll’s cyber risk practice.
Kroll offers consulting in valuation, expert services, investigations, cyber security, corporate finance, restructuring, legal and business solutions, data analytics, and regulatory compliance. The firm – which rebranded from Duff & Phelps earlier this year – has nearly 5,000 people in 30 countries and territories.
Jordan Kendall, president of Security Compass, said, “Our highly technical team at Security Compass Advisory will enhance Kroll’s resources and capabilities in cloud, red teaming, and emerging technology security, bringing nearly 100 certifications tied to AWS, Microsoft Azure and offensive security. Our clients will benefit from Kroll’s extensive threat intelligence and leading incident response services.”
