RSM Canada hires economist Tu Nguyen in Toronto office
RSM Canada has hired Tu Nguyen, PhD, as an economist and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) director. She will be based in the firm’s Toronto headquarters.
Nguyen will work with RSM’s global economics team to provide regular thought leadership and analysis on the Canadian and global economy. She will also work with the ESG group to develop quantitative models and a standardized process to lay the foundation for client services in the Canadian and global markets.
Nguyen most recently spent a year as a research economist at Dalhousie University, where she led research projects on the economic impact of Covid-19 on the fishing industry.
Before that, Nguyen completed a PhD in applied economics (with a focus on environmental and resource economics) at Oregon State University. She also holds a master’s degree in economics from The University of Akron and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Baruch College."Tu's deep capabilities in econometrics and economic modelling, combined with her strong business background and expertise in ESG will allow us to further expand our network and provide progressive services to our clients," said Harry Blum, RSM Canada's national managing partner. "ESG is no longer nice to have, but rather a critical element for organizations in today's world. Tu and the rest of RSM Canada's highly-skilled ESG team will be at the forefront of data and metrics that matter to middle market business across North America."
RSM US recently added Tuan Nguyen, who recently completed a doctorate in econometrics and quantitative economics at Northeastern University, to their economics team.
"The influence of the middle market in Canada is significant and RSM continues to invest in our ability to deliver broader economic context and insights to help these middle market businesses succeed," said Joe Brusuelas, chief economist for RSM US LLP. "We are thrilled to have Tu join our team of talented economists who provide real-time, middle market-relevant insights that help our clients anticipate and address the unique issues and challenges they face."
RSM Canada has approximately 600 people across five offices providing audit, tax, and consulting services to middle-market clients nationwide. The RSM International network of firms has more than 48,000 people in 120+ countries.
RSM Canada earlier this year hired Tom Amerongen as leader of its Microsoft practice.
