MNP buys Woodstock, ON accounting firm MacAlpine and Company
MNP, Canada’s largest mid-market accounting and consulting firm, has acquired Southwestern Ontario accounting firm MacAlpine and Company. The deal is effective December 1, 2021.
Located in Woodstock, about 35 minutes away from London and Kitchener, MacAlpine and Company supports owner-managed enterprises with services in tax planning and bookkeeping. The firm has particular expertise working with quick-service restaurant franchises.
In the last 29 years, the firm’s combined practices have grown from one employee to approximately 35 people.
MNP’s acquisition of the firm will further bolster its Southwestern Ontario presence, where it has locations in Burlington, St. Catharines, Waterloo, Cambridge, London, Stratford, Strathroy, Arkona, Sarnia, and Windsor."We initially entered the region with just a handful of offices but have constantly looked for opportunities to further our commitment to the area and are delighted to add MacAlpine and Company – a firm that shares our values and client-centric approach – into the fast-growing MNP fold,” said Jared Bourne, MNP's regional managing partner for Southwestern Ontario.
Founder Brock MacAlpine will join MNP as a partner. The acquired firm will remain at their present office location.
"MNP has terrific experience in all of the areas we work in, and their team's expertise will complement and enhance our current service offerings, while bringing greater bench strength to service our clients across Oxford County and the Woodstock area," MacAlpine said.
The move builds on MNP’s acquisition of St. Catherines-based Furtney Crysler and Burlington-based PJ Partners last year. The firm also earlier this year added approximately 900 employees from a number of Deloitte regional offices across the country.
Calgary-headquartered MNP has more than 7,000 people across 125+ locations in Canada. Aside from accounting and tax, the firm also offers consulting services in a range of areas, including corporate finance, risk, litigation support, and technology.
