Randstad Canada head Marc-Étienne Julien among Glassdoor's top CEOs
Marc-Étienne Julien, chief executive officer of recruitment and HR consultancy Randstad Canada, was rated one of the Top 25 CEOs in Canada, according to Glassdoor’s 8th annual Employees’ Choice Awards.
The online company review site based its rankings on voluntary employee input collected between May 2, 2020 and May 1, 2021. Employees were polled on sentiment toward their CEO’s leadership – including approval or disapproval – as well as on senior management and other factors tied to employee experience.
Glassdoor’s proprietary algorithm considered quantity, quality, and consistency of company reviews for companies to qualify for the list.
The average CEO approval rating was 73% across the 1.5 million reviews collected in Canada, the US, and Europe.
Marc-Étienne Julien was the only consulting firm leader to breach the Top 25 ranking in Canada. Julien came in 22nd place with an approval rating of 96%. The top five CEOs were Barry McInerney (Mackenzie Investment); Rania Llewellyn (Laurentian Bank); Ernie Herrman (Marshalls); Ronald Cohn (Sickkids); and Jeffrey Jones (H&R Block).
According to Glassdoor, employees felt the top ranked CEOs effectively adapted to change, led transparently, and were dedicated to their workers’ health and safety.
"Over the past year, company leaders around the world faced unprecedented challenges to support employees during the Covid-19 crisis. Now, the employees have spoken and it's clear that these CEOs excelled and found new ways to support their people when the world of work flipped upside down," said Christian Sutherland-Wong, CEO of Glassdoor. “I extend my sincerest congratulations to this year's Employees' Choice Award winners."
