Deloitte acquires Toronto digital consultancy TWG

Deloitte Digital, the creative digital consulting arm of Deloitte, has acquired TWG, a Toronto-based firm specializing in application development and data engineering.

Founded in 2002, TWG helps clients across technology, financial services, automotive, nonprofit, and other industries build software products. The firm’s services include human-centred product design and UX, agile software engineering, marketing websites, ecommerce strategy, and user research and testing.

Some of its recent engagements include advising CBC on user research to help the public broadcaster better understand the behaviour and interaction patterns of viewers during the Olympics, and helping Audi Canada design and develop a vehicle reservation system using Shopify Plus.

TWG has completed more than 200 engagements since its founding nearly two decades ago, and has worked with large firms such as RBC and Interac, as well as hot startups like Wealthsimple and Ritual.

The Toronto-based firm has more than 150 employees, with annual revenue of approximately $20 million.

Deloitte acquires Toronto digital consultancy TWGTWG has now been acquired by Deloitte Digital, according to a report from BetaKit. TWG will remain an independent company, retain its full staff, and maintain its current office location, the online publication noted.

The move will further strengthen Deloitte Digital’s product development capability. Alongside rival Accenture Interactive, Deloitte Digital is one of the largest digital marketing agencies in the world.

The company helps clients amplify their brands, deliver innovative user experiences, develop digital solutions and devices, drive omnichannel strategy, unlock insights in data, and protect digital operations.

Deloitte Canada last week announced it was selling off approximately two dozen regional offices that cater to small business clients to accountancy MNP. The Big Four firm said it would focus its investment strategy on digital assets and talent.
