Grant Thornton adds seven practices across the country
Grant Thornton Canada has expanded its bench strength across the country with the addition of seven practices.
“2020 was a year like no other,” said Kevin Ladner, CEO at Grant Thornton Canada. “We are committed to providing leading-edge solutions and deep expertise to help our clients navigate this new environment. Bringing these practices under the Grant Thornton banner expands our collective ability to help our clients achieve their goals in 2021 and beyond.”
In Nova Scotia, Grant Thornton welcomed the Truro practice of PwC. The move will add 8 new employees and a second office location in Truro. Grant Thornton now has 11 offices in Nova Scotia.
PwC last year sold off its small-market practice in Prince George, BC.
In Ontario, Grant Thornton acquired three accounting firms. Toronto’s Ilavsky Professional Corporation will add 7 team members, including one partner. The team will transition to Grant Thornton’s downtown location in the summer.
Douillard Sambrook Kingston LLP adds 16 team members, including three partners, across offices in Kitchener and Cambridge. Grant Thornton’s Kitchener team will be further strengthened by one partner and six employees from Kuppers & Company CPAs.
In Alberta, Grant Thornton will add two partners and three employees from Cameron & Hankinson Professional Corporation in Edmonton.
Finally, the mid-market accounting and consulting firm expanded its BC presence with two significant acquisitions. Grant Thornton strengthened its footprint in Interior BC with Daley & Company’s 41 team members, including four partners and three principals. The Kamloops firm has been in business since 1991.
In Victoria, the firm added Field & Company LLP, which has been serving clients in Vancouver Island for more than 90 years. The move will add 16 team members, including three partners.
All told, the moves will add 92 team members – including 14 partners and three principals – to Grant Thornton’s cross-Canada team. The Toronto-headquartered firm has, together with Quebec company Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton, approximately 4,700 employees in Canada.
“The world is changing, and we are, too,” Ladner said. “Adding new talent and new capabilities to our team helps us contribute even more to our clients, our colleagues, and our communities. Everyone at Grant Thornton joins me in extending a very warm welcome to all of these accomplished new team members.”
