RSM Canada named one of Canada's Most Admired Corporate Cultures
RSM Canada, a mid-market accounting and consulting firm, has been named one of Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures for 2020. Now in its 16th year, the annual awards are administered by Waterstone Human Capital, a Mississauga-based executive search firm.
Corporate culture is formed by the values, behaviours, and work environment of a company, and impacts everything from public image to employee turnover. Company culture is reflected in things such as dress code, business hours, employee benefits, and treatment of clients. Organizations with a “good” culture will often have employees with high morale and productivity.
According to Waterstone, the awards recognize “best-in-class Canadian organizations for having cultures that have helped them enhance performance and sustain a competitive advantage.”
Nominated organizations create a detailed written submission to the program, and then a board composed of leaders from past winning organizations selects ten winners across the categories of Emerging ($5-25 million in revenue), Growth ($25-100 million), Mid-Market ($100-500 million), Enterprise ($500 million and above), and the Broader Public Sector, for a total of 50 award winners.
RSM Canada was one of the ten winners in the Mid-Market category, and one of two consulting firms recognized in this year’s awards. The other one was The Poirier Group, an Etobicoke, ON-based boutique management consulting firm, which was recognized in the Emerging category.
"RSM Canada's culture is shaped by the diverse attributes of our staff and partners, and the shifting needs of our client's in today's ever-changing business environment," said Harry Blum, national managing partner at RSM Canada. "We live our core values every day, exemplified by a powerful framework of key behaviours – caring, curious, collaborative, courageous and critical thinking – that underpin our first-choice advisor culture. We build rich and enduring relationships based on deep understanding of our clients, their strategies, challenges and aspirations.”
RSM Canada, the Canadian member firm of consulting network RSM International, was formed in 2018 out of the Collins Barrow Toronto office. This was later augmented by the Red Deer, Edmonton, and Calgary offices of Collins Barrow.
The firm’s more than 600 professionals provide a full suite of services in audit, tax, and advisory.
"At Waterstone we believe corporate culture drives performance and that it's an organization's greatest asset," said Marty Parker, president and CEO of Waterstone Human Capital and chair of Canada's Most Admired Corporate Cultures Awards. "This year's winning organizations have all demonstrated an outstanding commitment to corporate culture and to leveraging their culture as a competitive advantage. They all align to three key themes: they are focused on building a high-performance culture, committed to employee career development and growth, and focused on creating a workplace culture that supports physical and psychological safety for their team members."
