MNP acquires boutique accountancies in St Catharines and Burlington
Accounting and consulting firm MNP has added two accounting firms in South Central Ontario: St. Catherines-based Furtney Crysler and Burlington-based PJ Partners.
Furtney Crysler was founded in 2014 by Drew Furtney and Bill Crysler. The firm’s chartered professional accountants provide audit, tax, and consulting services to owner-managed private companies and large public companies in the Niagara, Halton, and GTA regions.
PJ Partners was founded in 1993 by Jim Prapavessis and Frank Jasek, and also provides audit, tax, and consulting services. The firm’s consulting offerings include accounting software implementation, business process improvement, and business valuation.
The acquisition of the two firms will further expand Calgary-based MNP’s presence and capabilities in South Central Ontario.
The Furtney Crysler team will join MNP’s St. Catherines office, while the PJ Partners team will relocate to MNP’s Burlington office.
"South Central Ontario is a fantastic part of the country to live and work, with a diverse range of industries supporting its continued growth; including agriculture, real estate and construction, professionals, food and beverage, manufacturing, government, and tourism," Bill Sloper, MNP's regional managing partner for South Central Ontario, said. "We've been proud to work with and support organizations in all of these areas in recent years and these mergers represent our faith in the opportunities that exist for continued growth right across the region."
Historically focused on the Western provinces, MNP entered the Ontario market in 2008 and South Central Ontario in 2013 through a merger with Burlington firm Wade Group Professional Services. Since that time, the company has added regional offices in St. Catherines, Cambridge, and Waterloo.
MNP today has 30 locations in Eastern Canada and more than 80 locations nationwide. The company’s more than 5,000 employees deliver a full suite of professional services in audit, tax, and consulting, with a focus on the Canadian middle market.
"By joining MNP we will add more resources and specialized services, which will help to provide our clients with even greater value in the future," said Drew Furtney.
Frank Jasek added, “We knew joining MNP would be good for our clients and our team and we are very excited about the future.”
Some of the firm’s recent acquisitions in Ontario include Toronto-based applied data company T4G, Kingston-based Collins Barrow SEO LLP Chartered Accountants, and Mississauga-based IT consultancy Mantralogix.
