Deloitte enters alliance with telematics company Geotab
Deloitte Canada and Deloitte Chile have entered a strategic alliance with Geotab, an Oakville, Ontario-based company that focuses on GPS fleet tracking (telematics).
Telematics technology monitors vehicle fleets via GPS and onboard diagnostics to track movements on a computerized map. Geotab offers products and solutions that leverage IoT, machine learning, and analytics to optimize fleets by reducing fuel consumption, enhancing driver safety, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Geotab’s solutions allow companies to track speed and idling, fuel use, and tire pressure, among other factors. The data is stored in the cloud and then fed into a fleet management software system, unlocking business intelligence such as what vehicles are due for scheduled maintenance, and which drivers had the highest number of speeding incidents.
The Canadian firm is the #1 ranked telematics provider as chosen by ABI Research, and has 11 offices across the Americas, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.
Under the strategic alliance, Deloitte will offer Geotab’s products as well as consulting and integration services to its large enterprise clients in Canada and Chile. Deloitte will help clients integrate Geotab’s solution into existing enterprise platforms, allowing them to better leverage fleet data to optimize operations.
“We know that Deloitte is uniquely positioned to consult, implement, and add value around transportation logistics and big data for both current and future customers,” said Neil Cawse, CEO of Geotab. “This alliance is full of potential and will undoubtedly help us to achieve our growth goals not only within Canada and Latin America, but globally as well."
Anders McKenzie, managing partner for technology, media, and telecommunications at Deloitte Canada, added, “Data, used properly, creates exceptionally valuable insights. By collaborating with innovative organizations like Geotab, we are seeking to further embed data-driven and insight-driven business models for our clients.”
