KPMG Canada has acquired Allard Matte, a boutique Montreal accounting and consulting firm.

Founded in 1993 by France Allard and Paule Matte, Allard Matte serves small- and medium-sized companies with services in audit, outsourced accounting, tax, and consulting. The firm’s consulting offering includes budget forecasting, due diligence, and mergers and acquisitions.

The company has a team of nine professionals and is based in Brossard in Montreal’s South Side.

KPMG’s acquisition of Allard Matte will expand the firm’s presence in the Montreal area, where the company has a downtown location and a South Side location. The Allard Matte team will join KPMG’s Brossard office at 3400 rue de l’éclipse.

“Our two organizations share a vision, which is to provide innovative advisory services based on our many years of experience and tools that Québec entrepreneurs need to excel and make their companies grow,” said Benoit Lacoste Bienvenue, Québec managing partner at KPMG. “The Allard Matte team will allow KPMG Enterprise to expand its presence more quickly, making its integrated offerings available to more entrepreneurs in Montréal and the Montérégie region.”

Prior to co-founding the firm, France Allard was a partner at Big Four accountancy EY. Allard has deep experience across audit, M&A, restructuring, and succession planning, and has supported SMEs across a wide range of industries.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from HEC Montreal, and is a certified CPA and CA.

Before co-founding Allard Matte, Paule Matte worked at a medium-sized accounting firm, and then independently. She is an expert in audit, M&A, and financial and tax reorganization, and has particular expertise supporting European companies entering the North American market – advising on due diligence, acquisitions, and tax.

Matte holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from HEC Montreal, and is a certified CPA and CA.

"We are delighted to join an organization with the size and scope of KPMG – which shares our values and our commitment to small- and medium-sized private companies," said Allard and Matte. "We will continue to provide personalized service to our clients to help them overcome challenges and seize opportunities that arise, particularly in the current context.”

KPMG has more than 7,000 professionals across 40+ locations in Canada.

The Big Four firm earlier this year bought Wirefire Creative, the ServiceNow practice of Vancouver-based technology consultancy Wirefire.
