MNP acquires managed IT solutions firm Next Digital
Accounting and consulting firm MNP has acquired Next Digital, an Alberta-based managed IT solutions company. The deal is effective August 1, 2020.
Founded in 2003, Next Digital delivers outsources IT services and support to businesses across Canada, with a focus on Alberta and Western Canada. The firm’s core offerings include managed IT, hardware and software procurement, IT project management, data protection, and cloud services.
Next Digital has a team of 54 professionals across offices in Edmonton, Calgary, and Red Deer.
The acquisition will strengthen MNP’s capabilities in managed services within its technology solutions practice, including key areas such as applications and operations, cybersecurity, and digital services.
“This merger reflects our commitment to always look for new ways, including the use of new technologies, to help our clients reach their full potential,” said Sean Devin, leader of MNP's technology solutions practice.
Next Digital’s leadership team – Andrew Jackson, Shawn Kubiski, and John McLaughlin – will join MNP as partners.
“We've had the opportunity to work with MNP's Technology Solutions team with some mutual clients over the past few years. Through those engagements, we recognized our Managed Services offering would complement MNP's current Technology Solutions practice," said McLaughlin.
MNP has been working to expand its technology practice in recent years. The company in May acquired T4G, a Toronto-based applied data firm, adding 100 professionals and strengthening capabilities in data engineering, analytics, cloud transformation, and internet of things.
Last year, MNP added GTA-based Mantralogix, an ERP and CRM software consultancy.
The Calgary-based firm has also been expanding its presence in Atlantic Canada. MNP entered the Maritimes in 2017 with the purchase of Dartmouth-based accountancy WBLI. It further expanded in the region with the purchase of two accounting firms in Sydney, Nova Scotia in December 2019, and the acquisition of two accounting firms in St. John’s, Newfoundland in March.
Founded in 1958, MNP has grown to more than 85 locations and 5,500 employees coast-to-coast.
