MNP acquires applied data company T4G
Accounting and consulting firm MNP has acquired T4G, a full-service applied data company with a strong footprint in Atlantic Canada.
Founded in 1996 and headquartered in Toronto, T4G helps organizations collect, organize, and apply data to drive growth, operate more efficiently, and better engage with clients. The company offers services in business intelligence and analytics, modern data engineering, AI and machine learning, and intelligent applications.
The company is a Microsoft Gold Partner, and further partners with other technology companies such as Adobe, Google, Apple, and Databricks. T4G has worked with a diverse range of leading clients, including RBC, Telus, Subaru, Hilton, Canadian Tire, and numerous public sector and nonprofit organizations.
The data consulting firm has more than 100 employees across offices in Halifax, Saint John, Toronto, and Vancouver.
MNP’s acquisition of T4G bolsters its presence and technical resources in Atlantic Canada. The Calgary-based accounting and consulting firm – which is the largest such firm in Canada after the Big Four – entered the Maritimes in 2017 with the purchase of Dartmouth-based accountancy WBLI. MNP further expanded in the region with the purchase of two accounting firms in Sydney, Nova Scotia in December 2019, and the acquisition of two accounting firms in St. John’s, Newfoundland in March.
"The Atlantic Canada marketplace is a growing and diverse economy that has seen increasing investment in recent years," said Jeremy Cole, MNP's EVP for Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada. "We're delighted to be a part of the communities in Dartmouth, Truro, Sydney and St. John's, and are looking forward to further expanding our footprint into the Halifax and Saint John areas.”
T4G will be rolled into MNP’s fast-growing technology solutions practice, which covers offerings in digital services, cybersecurity, managed IT, and technology advisory. The acquired firm will bring added capabilities in data engineering, analytics, cloud transformation, and internet of things, among other areas.
Three of T4G's leaders (Jon Barry, Salima Moosa, and Jason Lee) will join MNP as partners, and more than 100 team members will join the national firm, which has 5,500 employees in 85 offices.
Some of the T4G staff will relocate to MNP offices, while other will remain at their current locations, according to a press release from the firm.
"MNP has a thriving Technology Solutions practice and so we are thrilled to be joining a firm that is committed to identifying and using all of the tools available to help its clients achieve their goals," said David Posluns, co-founder of T4G. "Joining MNP will give our own clients access to a wider network of experts across every facet of Canadian business and provides new opportunities for our people to learn and develop their careers by working with MNP's diverse teams and client base."
