Sinai Health partners with Deloitte on livestream fundraiser
Toronto’s Sinai Health – which includes Mount Sinai Hospital and Bridgepoint Active Healthcare – has teamed up with Deloitte Canada on a livestream charity event to raise funds in the fight against Covid-19.
The 11-hour charity stream will take place between 2pm and 1am on Saturday, May 2, with celebrity streamers sharing video broadcasts on ChampionsofSinai.com. The website is powered by consulting firm Deloitte Canada.
The event will be hosted by sportscasters Marissa Roberto and Faizal Khamisa, as well as tech expert Amber Mac. Content will include a tour of Casa Loma, cooking segments from the kitchens of The Drake and Bar Chef, and e-sports livestreams from SoaR Gaming, an e-sports organization owned by Maple Leafs player Zach Hyman. The NHL forward will likewise be featured in the livestream event.
The event will kick off with a Q&A from Toronto Mayor John Tory and a message from Ontario Premier Doug Ford.
"For all of us taking social distancing measures and staying at home, there's a new way to make an impact in the fight against COVID-19," said Louis de Melo, CEO of Sinai Health Foundation. "The doctors and nurses at our hospitals have been working tirelessly to combat the pandemic and need our support now more than ever."
Mount Sinai is one of the hospitals in Toronto running an Assessment Centre in the wake of Covid-19.
Funds raised during Sinai Live will be used to purchase essential medical and support supplies – including personal protective equipment, food and beverages, and accommodation and parking for staff. Donations will also go towards the purchase of iPads for isolated patients and towards research on Covid-19 antibody tests.
"It has been incredible to see so many professionals from across our firm come together to volunteer their time and expertise in support of this important initiative," said Don MacPherson, partner and national strategic and operation risk leader at Deloitte Canada. "It's a great example of our people living our purpose, to make an impact that matters, and supporting the community as we all work to respond to COVID-19."
