Rick Moffat joins HKA as partner in Calgary
Construction industry expert Rick Moffat has joined HKA, a London-headquartered consulting firm focusing on the construction industry. Moffat joins as a partner based in the firm’s Calgary office.
The new partner will be responsible for establishing HKA’s client base in Western Canada, while also working to grow operations in Detroit via prior client relationships.
Moffat brings more than 25 years of consulting experience in the construction industry, with expertise in risk management, project management, and dispute resolution for industrial, infrastructure, commercial, and institutional projects. He has testified as an expert in issues involving loss of productivity, delay analysis, and change order impact.
Before joining HKA, Moffat spent over seven years at consulting firm Berkeley Research Group, where he was partner in the Calgary office. Prior to that he spent four years as an associate director at Navigant Consulting and nearly six years as a principal at Pearson Consulting, a firm specializing in construction claims management.
Prior to his time in the consulting sector, Moffat was VP of operations at C&R Masonry, helping to establish the US office of the large masonry and concrete company. He also spent a decade at EllisDon, an international general contracting and construction firm, where he served as a project manager, scheduler, and field engineer.

The London-headquartered firm has Canadian offices in Toronto, Montreal, and Calgary. HKA has 1,000 professionals across 50 offices in 19 countries.
The firm provides advisory, dispute and resolution, expert witness, and technology services to clients in the construction, manufacturing, process, and technology industries. The firm also has experience in forensic accounting and consulting on complex government contracting matters.
