BDO Canada appoints Rafi Majeed as chief digital officer
Mid-market accounting and consulting firm BDO Canada has welcomed Rafi Majeed as its new chief digital officer.
Majeed brings more 20 years of technology leadership experience within professional services and the finance industry to the newly created role. As chief digital officer, he will lead BDO Canada’s digital transformation strategy, implement new digital models, and guide the consultancy’s digital project portfolio to help clients transform.
Over his career, Majeed has specialized in reforming business processes through technology – from ideation to deployment of digital products which boost enterprise efficiency. He has deep experience developing and delivering product roadmaps using technologies such as artificial intelligence and robotic process automation. Majeed has also built and overseen technology teams with onshore, offshore, and nearshore sourcing models for optimal performance.
He joins BDO Canada from EY Canada, where he spent two years as an associate partner and business technologies leader. In the role, Majeed shaped the strategic direction tax technologies used at the Big Four firm, while embedding advanced technologies into business operations.
Before that, he spent seven years at Deloitte as a director in global technology services, working with multiple stakeholders across the firm’s global operations on IT design and architecture, application management and support, and operational efficiency.
Majeed also previously was a senior director of retail markets technologies at CIBC, and a director in global information technology services at KPMG International. He holds a master’s degree in information systems from the University of Toronto and a bachelor’s degree in engineering from NED University.
On the volunteer front, Majeed spent more than 12 years as a member of the board of directors at Parent Action on Drugs, and is currently a mentor at Jumpstart Refugee Talent.
