KPMG Canada has appointed Stephanie Terrill as its national management consulting leader. Terrill, who has been with KPMG for nearly 20 years, previously served as national and global leader of the firm’s financial management advisory services practice. She will be based in Toronto.

"Stephanie has a proven track record of providing strategic counsel to decision-makers and successfully implementing their strategies to establish growth platforms and optimize operating models for her clients,” Benjie Thomas, Canadian managing partner for advisory services, KPMG, said. “She and her team will be key to helping companies transform their business by leveraging new technologies and strategies to create an organization that's innovative, customer-centric, inclusive, and driven to succeed and withstand the unexpected."

Terrill has more than 20 years of international business experience focused on transforming the finance function. She has deep expertise across M&A, deal integration, cost optimization, process improvement, finance function digitization, and change management consulting.

Terrill started her career at the Toronto office of KPMG, where she worked in the audit function for three-and-a-half years and rose to the level of manager. She then made the move to KPMG Australia, where she was a senior manager in the consulting practice for four years, focusing on change program implementation in the financial services industry.

After that, she served as a director of special projects at Australian insurance and fund management firm AMP for three years, where she focused on program management, cost optimization, and selection of consulting services.

Following her time at AMP, Terrill founded and ran SET Consulting, a consulting firm focused on the implementation of tech-based transformation programs at large corporations.

Terrill rejoined KPMG Canada in 2008 as a partner and national leader of financial management advisory, before going on to serve as the global service line leader for financial management advisory. She has been a member of KPMG Canada’s board of directors since 2016.

"To stay relevant, be resilient, and win market share, Canadian companies must rethink both how they operate and engage with their customers, alliance partners, supply chain, and employees,” the new head of management consulting at KPMG Canada said. “Technology can only serve as a platform for growth if implemented in strategic alignment with the organization's purpose, values, and ethos."

Terrill holds a BA in accounting from the University of Waterloo, and is a chartered professional accountant and chartered accountant.
