Saskatoon-based accounting and consulting firm Virtus Group LLP has joined the RSM Canada Alliance program.

Virtus Group is the fourth member firm to join the Canadian alliance program since it launched in December 2018, and the first member from Western Canada.

The program is modeled after RSM US’s Alliance program, which was launched almost 30 years ago and includes more than 75 members in 38 states, the Cayman Islands, and Puerto Rico. Through membership, allied firms are able to build and enhance their practices by leveraging the infrastructure, expertise, and best practices of RSM – a global network of firms with more than 41,000 employees in 116 countries.

Alliance program members maintain their independent status while gaining access to expanded tools, expertise, and practice management resources, as well as networking opportunities and dedicated client services. Expanded capabilities are a growing necessity for even smaller local firms, as clients increasingly demand advanced expertise in a globalizing and technologically evolving environment.

Saskatchewan’s Virtus Group joins RSM Canada Alliance

Virtus Group supports Western Canadian entrepreneurs and businesses with professional accounting, tax, and business advisory services. The firm has offices in Saskatoon and Regina, and has been in business for over 50 years.

"With the addition of Virtus Group, we are thrilled to bring the power of the RSM Canada Alliance program to Saskatchewan," said Terri Ellis, leader of the RSM Canada Alliance. "Virtus Group has maintained an excellent portfolio as the largest independent accounting firm in Saskatchewan, and now will help expand the RSM Canada Alliance into Western Canada.

“Like other RSM Canada Alliance members, Virtus Group will benefit from the ability to leverage the RSM global brand and breadth of services, while staying aligned with their independent Canadian roots and culture. In a rapidly changing Canadian business landscape, membership into the RSM Canada Alliance will ensure that they have the tools and resources available to better serve clients and help them achieve their financial goals."

The RSM Canada Alliance network launched late last year, with inaugural members DJB – an accounting firm with offices in Burlington, Grimsby, Hamilton, St. Catharines, and Welland – and NVS Chartered Accountants in Markham, ON.

Building out the alliance program is a key part of RSM Canada’s strategic plan, which includes expanding into major Canadian markets through fully integrated offices and alliance members.

RSM Canada was formed out of the Toronto member firm of Collins Barrow in 2017, and augmented by the Collins Barrow offices in Calgary, Edmonton, and Red Deer, Alberta in 2018.
