Consulting firm Strategy Corp has brought in Mitchell Davidson as a member of its management consulting practice and executive director of the firm’s forthcoming think tank – the StrategyCorp Institute of Public Policy and Economy.

Toronto and Ottawa–based StrategyCorp combines public affairs, communications, and management consulting services to support private and public sector clients working in highly scrutinized and regulated environments. The firm’s more than 50 professionals support domestic and international clients in challenges ranging from mergers and acquisitions to environmental approvals.

The company will be launching a new market-facing think tank which will examine domestic and global public policy and economic issues, deriving new insights for businesses.

StrategyCorp has brought in policy expert Mitchell Davidson to lead the firm’s Institute of Public Policy and Economy, which is slated to launch this fall. Davidson will also join the management consulting practice.

"We are very happy to welcome Mitchell to our national practice team. His broad public policy knowledge and experience across economics, transit, infrastructure, and service delivery will be a great asset to our clients," Chris Loreto, principal and management consulting practice lead, said. "We are also excited that Mitchell will lead the StrategyCorp Institute of Public Policy and Economy. The Institute will deliver valuable insights to help our clients' businesses thrive and bridge the gap between the public and private sectors."

As executive director, Davidson will work with fourteen senior advisors to develop research and publications on the economic and business-related impacts of government policy, programs, budgets, and political platforms.

Davidson was previously the executive director of policy for Ontario Premier Doug Ford. Before that, he held a number of policy roles at the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario, including director of policy and legislative affairs, and manager of research services.

Davidson holds an MA and BA in political science from the University of Western Ontario.

"StrategyCorp is unique in the marketplace and the addition of Mitchell to our team strengthens the distinct value we bring to our clients in navigating the business and politics of their industries," John Matheson, principal at StrategyCorp, said. "We are very proud of the team we continue to build – including our senior advisors who are trailblazers in their fields – and the Institute will be another great avenue for us to contribute to innovative public policy and economic growth."

Earlier this year, the consultancy added infrastructure expert Mike Cautillo as a senior advisor. The 40-year industry veteran was previously CEO of the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority, and a Deloitte partner in the firm’s infrastructure advisory segment.
